All Winair airport offices have wheelchairs available for customers who require assistance. Passenger boarding bridges are used where available, and where stairs are required, special equipment is provided to assist passengers who cannot climb steps.
Requesting wheelchair assistance
Winair offers wheelchair assistance via a 3rd party:
- To and from the boarding gate
- Between gates for connecting flights
- To baggage claim upon arrival
Levels of wheelchair assistance:
- WCHR (Ramp) – For passengers who can ascend/descend stairs and walk to/from their cabin seat but require a wheelchair for longer distances to/from the aircraft.
- WCHS (Steps) – For passengers unable to ascend/descend stairs but able to move to/from their cabin seat. Assistance is provided up/downstairs.
- WCHC (Cabin) – For passengers who are completely immobile and require full assistance, including to/from the cabin seat and up/downstairs.
For safety reasons, some passengers may be required to travel with a personal assistant.
How to Request Assistance
Passengers should request wheelchair services as far in advance as possible. Up to
48 hours notice may be required for certain accommodation. Requests can be made via
reservations@fly-winair.com.
Cost
Wheelchair assistance is provided free of charge. Personal wheelchairs and mobility aids are also transported free of charge.
Acceptable Wheelchairs & Mobility Aids
Winair accepts the following mobility aids under passenger provisions:
Accepted- Manual wheelchairs – No restrictions.
- Battery-powered wheelchairs with non-spillable batteries (sealed lead-acid or gel) – Accepted once battery type is confirmed as non-spillable, securely attached, and terminals are protected from short circuit.
- Folding/travel mobility aids with removable lithium-ion batteries
Accepted under conditions:- Battery must be removed and carried in the cabin.
- Battery must be protected from short circuit.
- Maximum 300 Wh, or two spare batteries not exceeding 160 Wh each.
Not Accepted- Wheelchairs with spillable (wet) lead-acid batteries.
Acceptance RequirementsFor all permitted battery-powered mobility aids:
- Battery type and watt-hour (Wh) rating must be verified by Winair staff.
- Terminals must be protected against short circuits (e.g., insulated or enclosed).
- Removable batteries must be packed in strong protective casing and carried in the cabin.
